Zariah Matthews led the Lady Choctaws to a pair of consecutive Gulf South Conference wins on the weekend, including a 21-point win over Valdosta State - completing the season sweep of the Lady Blazers, the first since the 1992-93 campaign. Matthews notched her sixth, 20-plus point game against VSU - the most by any Lady Choctaw since the program returned to Division II. She followed with a double-digit performance in the win over West Florida - her 12th straight game in double figures this season and 18th this season. She's in contention to become a 1,000-point scorer in the program.
Matthews leads the Gulf South Conference in steals per game (3.0), third in assists per game (4.7) and 11th in scoring (14.9).
