Sophomore Madeline Campbell has been named the Mississippi College Merit Health Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Dec. 9).

Campbell (Rochester, Ill.) broke the program's indoor 3,000-meters and mile records at the BSC Panther Indoor Invite in Birmingham last Friday. Campbell reset her previously-held mark in the 3K with a time of 10:31.15 and a fifth place finish.

She toppled the mile record with a time of 5:22.09 along with a fourth place finish. Former Lady Choctaw Abbie Easter held the program record in the mile with a time of 5:24.36 set in December 2016.

Campbell and Mississippi College return to action on Friday, Jan. 17 as they return to Birmingham for the Samford University Invitational.
