Senior forward Trevon Malone averaged 21.5 points and 12.0 rebounds over a 1-1 week for the Choctaws. For his efforts, Malone was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week for the games of January 5-9.
Malone's 30 points and 15 rebounds against Hardin-Simmons were the most points scored by a Choctaw since December 19, 2009, when Donnie Haywood scored 31 points against Sul Ross State. His 15 rebounds were the most since December 6, 2007, when Prince Trotter grabbed 18 against Wesley College.
Malone and the Choctaws travel to play Centenary on Thursday before playing at East Texas Baptist on Saturday. Game times are 7:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
