Senior Zariah Matthews has been named the Mississippi College Merit Health Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Nov. 25).

Matthews (Bogue Chitto, Miss.) led the Lady Choctaws to a 61-58 win over West Alabama in the Gulf South Conference opener on Saturday.

The four-year starter scored a team-high 17 points, going 6-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the three-point line. She also tallied three rebounds with three assists and three steals in the win.

Matthews and the Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Monday (Nov. 25) night when they travel to face Montevallo at 5:30 p.m.
