Junior Marco Sellan has been named Mississippi College Merit Health Male Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Sep. 30).
Sellan (Fiume Veneto, Italy) helped lead the Choctaws to a pair of Gulf South Conference wins over West Alabama and UAH, including scoring the "Golden Goal" in the come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Chargers on Sunday.
The Wingate University transfer opened the week with his first goal of the season in the 80th minute at West Alabama, essentially clinching a road victory over the Tigers.
On Sunday, he found the back of the net in the 97th minute off an assist from senior Michael Kuwornu to cap a comeback win for the Choctaws that saw them erase a 2-0 second-half deficit, forcing the match into overtime.
On the season, Sellan ranks 3rd on the team with two goals scored and leads the team with 25 shots and 10 shots on goal.
The Choctaws will be back in action this week as they travel to face Lee (Oct. 4) and Shorter (Oct. 6) in Gulf South Conference road matches.
