Senior Katie Taylor has been named the Mississippi College Merit Health Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Sep. 23).

Taylor (Tupelo, Miss.) helped lead the women's soccer team to a 5-1 win over former American Southwest Conference rival Texas-Tyler last Saturday with two goals and an assist.

Her first score was the eventual game-winner as she converted a penalty kick in the 35th minute after being taken down in the box. She also assisted on a Kaylee Foster goal in the 36th minute and netted her second score in the 68th minute on an assist from Jess Davenport.

Taylor is tied for the team lead with three goals and has a team-high seven points through the first three matches of the season.

The Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action on Friday when open Gulf South Conference play by hosting West Alabama at 3:00 p.m. at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
