Junior Josh Miller has been named the Mississippi College Merit Health Male Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Sep. 23).
Miller (Kokomo, Miss.) led the Choctaws with 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, in a 39-27 win over North Greenville in the Gulf South Conference opener Saturday night.
The East MS CC transfer filled up the stat sheet with 2.0 tackles for loss, including a sack with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. His strip sack came in the fourth quarter and turned the ball over to the Choctaws with 5:13 remaining in the game and a 39-27 lead.
On the season, Miller has now tallied 13 tackles with 11 solo stops as he made his first start for the Choctaws on Saturday night.
The Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday (Sep. 28) when they travel to Pensacola, Fla. to face West Florida at 6:00 p.m. in Blue Wahoos Stadium.
