Junior Zariah Matthews has been named the Mississippi College Renasant Bank Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Jan. 14).

Matthews (Bogue Chitto, Miss.) led the Lady Choctaws in scoring in each of the games of a homestand against Valdosta State and West Florida. She scored a season-high and tied a career-high with 19 points against UWF. She also poured in 15 on Thursday against VSU.

On the season, Matthews is the team's leading scorer at 11.4 points per game, shooting 42% from the field and 82% from the free throw line. She has scored in double-figures in eight games this season.

Matthews and the Lady Choctaws will make a road trip to Tennessee this weekend as they face Christian Brothers (Memphis) on Thursday and Union (Jackson) on Saturday.
