Junior Emma Claire Furman has been named Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Oct. 1).

Furman (Mandeville, La.) helped lead the women's soccer team to a pair of weekend victories over Shorter and Lee, scoring three goals in the two matches. She has now scored four times in the last three matches, including the game-winner against Delta State (Sep. 21).

The #22 Lady Choctaws have now won six straight matches, including five straight shutouts. MC and #4 West Florida are tied atop the Gulf South Conference standings at 4-0 in league play.

Furman and the Lady Choctaws will be back in action this weekend when they face Christian Brothers (Oct. 5) and Union (Oct. 7) on the road.
