Junior Connor Johnson has been named the Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Male Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Sep. 10).

Johnson (Madison, Miss.) scored twice and helped lead a defense that pitched a shutout in a 5-0 victory over Ouachita Baptist on Sunday afternoon.

His first goal came in the 15th minute when he converted a penalty kick to make the score 2-0. The second tally came in the 37th minute with the help of an assist from Abel Perez.

The Choctaws held OBU to just six shots with only two coming on goal in the 90 minutes. Johnson and MC would take 42 shots in the match, including 14 on frame.

The Choctaws will be back in action this Thursday when they host West Alabama at 3:30 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.
