Senior Kristen Gardner has been named Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (April 9).
Gardner (Vancleave, Miss.) tossed a pair of complete games as the Lady Choctaws went 5-0 on the week with sweeps of Miles and Christian Brothers. She went 2-0 with a 0.53 ERA, striking out 10 batters with just two walks.
In the victory over Miles, she allowed just three hits and one unearned run with six strikeouts. In the series finale against CBU, Gardner struck out four with no walks, scattering seven hits over 7.0 innings.
Gardner and the Lady Choctaws will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Huntsville, Ala. for a three-game series with UAH.
