Junior Kristen Qualls has been named Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Feb. 12).
Qualls (Madison, Miss.) led the MC Softball team to a 2-2 record at the Charger Chillout 2.0 in Huntsville, Ala. last weekend. The former Madison Central standout had a hit in every game of the tournament, going 5-of-13 (.385) with four RBI and three runs scored.
In the tournament finale for MC, Qualls went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two-run double. The long ball in the fourth inning tied the score at 1-1 and gave her 22 for her career, which is tied for second in school history.
Qualls and the Lady Choctaws will be back in action this weekend at the GSC Opening Weekend Festival in Montgomery, Ala. They will face Auburn Montgomery on Saturday (Feb. 17) at noon, followed by two games on Sunday (Feb. 18) against Montevallo at noon and Valdosta State at 2:30 p.m.
