Sophomore Brandon Boston has been named the Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Male Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday (January 23).
Boston (Pearl, Miss.) averaged 27.5 points and shot 69% from the floor as he helped lead the Choctaws to a 2-0 road trip with wins over Lee and Shorter.
He scored a career-high 32 points in the victory over the Flames, marking the most points for a Choctaw in the last 15 years. In the win, Boston went 11-of-16 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line, also racking up three assists.
In the win over Shorter, Boston scored 23 points with eight rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. He was 11-of-16 from the field again and improved his season-scoring average more than two points over the two victories.
On the season, Boston is averaging 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, ranking 5th in the league in field goal percentage (.551). He has scored in double-figures in each of the last six games and 11 times out of 16 games.
Boston and the Choctaws are back in action this Saturday when they welcome rival Delta State to Clinton. Tip-off in A.E. Wood Coliseum is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
