Sophomore forward Phillip Buffington led the Choctaws soccer team to a 1-1 record over the weekend against two tough conference opponents.  The Jackson, MS native known as "Buff", scored two goals and added an assist in the 6-2 win over Texas Lutheran on Friday.  The Jackson Prep standout followed that up with a goal in the 4-2 loss against Schreiner on Saturday afternoon.  On the weekend, Buffington scored a total of three goals with one assist on seven shots and five shots on goal.

Buffington has been the scoring catalyst for the Choctaw offense all season.  In only 14 games this season, Buffington has led the Choctaws with 16 goals.  That total also led the American Southwest Conference.  Buffington biggest output of the season came against Concordia University-Austin, when he scored four goals and had an assist. 

The Choctaws are headed to the ASC tournament on Friday afternoon at 11:00 a.m. against UT-Dallas.  The tournament is being held in Kerrville, TX on the campus of Schreiner University.
