Junior Lauren Smith has been named the Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (November 13).

Smith was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, posting a 3.80 grade-point-average in Biology Medical Sciences over her three years at MC. It is her second straight selection to the group.

The Birmingham, Ala. native led the Lady Choctaws with nine goals scored and 22 total points in 20 matches. She helped lead MC to their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, earning the #1 seed in the South Region.

The Lady Choctaws wrapped up their 2017 season with a 1-0 loss to West Florida in the Round of 32 on Sunday. MC finished with a record of 15-4-1.
