CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College athletic department celebrated the Choctaws on Tuesday night with the MC Athletics Dinner, held in Anderson Hall on MC's campus.
NFL Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Brown was the night's keynote speaker, bringing a message of relying totally on God and realizing that we are nothing without Him.
Prior to Brown's speech and following an outstanding meal, Andy Taggart announced that going forward, the event would be renamed the "Don Phillips Athletic Dinner" in honor of long-time Choctaw supporter, Dr. Don Phillips.
Following the announcement, their was a live auction that included golf clubs, trips, etc. On the evening, over $184,000 was raised to support the efforts of Mississippi College athletics.
After Tim Brown spoke, he posed for pictures with attendees behind his Heisman Trophy and NFL Hall of Fame bust.
"It was another great night for Choctaw Athletics," said athletic director
Mike Jones. "It's always great to see the wonderful friends of this great department in one room for this event each year. Tim (Brown) was a phenomenal speaker, and we did some great things for MC Athletics tonight."
Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC is recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and will be competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.

The athletic department sponsors 17 intercollegiate athletic programs: Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Football, Golf, Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field, Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field and Volleyball.
