MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE CHEERLEADING - 2012 - 2013 TRYOUT INFORMATION:

Tryouts for the 2012-2013 Choctaw Cheerleading Squad are scheduled for March 23rd and 24th, 2012, in MC’s A.E. Wood Coliseum. All participants must contact Coach Sandy Wren at (601) 826-6036or wren@mc.edu at least 2 weeks before tryouts for specific details, required forms, and the dance video link. A $10 non-refundable application fee will be required to participate in tryouts.

Proposed itinerary for Friday, March 23rd - 5:00 - 8:00 PM - Tryout Clinic:

Participants will learn the tryout cheer and review the tryout dance routine. The dance will be posted on-line approximately 2 weeks before the tryout date. It will be the responsibility of each participant to learn this dance on their own.

Participants will also be required to perform 2 group stunts during their tryout. Participants will be placed in their stunt groups during the clinic and allowed time to practice with their group.

Jumps and tumbling practice will also be allowed during this time. Tumbling is not required, but it will be counted as bonus points.

Proposed itinerary for Saturday, March 24th - 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM - Tryouts:

Participants will have approximately 1 hour to warm-up and practice their tryout material.

Tryouts will begin around 10:00 AM and should conclude by 12:00 PM.

The new squad will be announced by 1:00 PM, at which time, all new squad members must report back for a team meeting and uniform fitting.

A STUNT CLINIC is also scheduled for Saturday, March 3rd, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, in MC’s Alumni Hall Gym. This clinic is open to anyone interested in trying out, but it is not mandatory. Participants will be able to stunt with the current MC Cheerleaders and other attendees in preparation for tryouts. Please contact Coach Sandy Wren for specific details and the required forms if you plan to attend the stunt clinic. A $10 non-refundable application fee will be required to participate in the stunt clinic.
