CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College men's soccer team dropped their 2010 season opener, falling to Birmingham-Southern, 2-1, on the road on Wednesday night.  Sophomore Julio Cesar Espinal scored the equalizing goal in the 75th minute, but the Choctaws (0-1) allowed a late tally to fall to the Panthers (1-0).

Birmingham-Southern opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Garner Shivers used a header off a free kick from Ingvi Georgsson to take the early lead.

Espinal scored the match-tying unassisted goal to make the match, 1-1.  The Panthers scored the game-winner less than two minutes later when Tony Crocker scored off an assist from Shivers.

The Choctaws outshot Birmingham-Southern, 14-7, but could not break through as senior Michael Cooper led the way with four shots.

MC will be back in action on Wednesday, September 8th when they host Spring Hill College at 4:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.

CLINTON, MS - Numerous student athletes from 16 universities and colleges have been recognized by the American Southwest Conference on its 2011 Fall All-Academic honor roll.  The teams were announced by the ASC office on Thursday (Jan. 19) and include the sports of cross country, football, soccer, and volleyball.

NSCAA Division III All-Far West Team
CLINTON, MS - Mississippi College freshman Brian Vasquez and senior Ben Cross were named to the National Soccer Coach Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-Far West Team, it was announced Tuesday, December 13th.  Vasquez was a First Team selection, while Cross earned a spot on the Second Team.
