MCMINNVILLE, OR - The Mississippi College Choctaws (39-11) fell to Linfield College (32-10) 12-3 Saturday in the championship game of the NCAA Division III West Regional hosted by Linfield. The Choctaws reached the championship game due to a 6-5 win earlier Saturday against Pomona-Pitzer College.
The Choctaws fell behind early with Linfield scoring two runs in the first and second inning for a quick 4-0 lead.
Bo Bell put the Choctaws on the board in the bottom of the second with a solo homerun, his eleventh of the season.
Linfield answered with three unearned runs in the top of the third to take a commanding 7-1 lead. A two-run homerun from
Brannon Walls in the bottom of the inning pulled the Choctaws within 7-3.
Linfield tacked on a run in the sixth with a solo homerun, and added four more in the eighth with back to back to back homeruns.
The Choctaws set a new school record for wins and reached an NCAA Regional Championship for the first time in program history.
