TYLER, TX - The Mississippi College women's tennis team (10-7) advanced to the semi-finals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament with a 5-1 victory over McMurry (9-8) on Friday afternoon at the Cascades Country Club.

Play was moved from Texas-Tyler to the indoor courts after rain in the area during the morning.

The Lady Choctaws opened the scoring with an 8-3 victory by the #1 doubles team of junior Andrea Boyles and senior Emily Newman over Chelsea Miller and Lindsey Bloomer.  Senior Audra Nicholas and freshman Molly Nicholas took the second doubles point with an 8-4 victory over Whitne Zugai and Karlie Deitrich.

Deloach, Marigrace

McMurry would score their only point of the match at the #2 doubles spot with Gavee Olsen and Hillary Stone taking out junior Sydney Moak and senior Marigrace Deloach, 8-5.

The Lady Choctaws would sweep the three singles matches that complete without even dropping a game.  Boyles, Newman, and Deloach each won their matches, 6-0, 6-0.

MC will move on to face the #1 seed from the ASC West Hardin-Simmons at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.

CLINTON, MS - Mississippi College had 43 student athletes recognized on the 2010-11 Winter/Spring All-Academic honor roll.  The teams were announced by the ASC office on Friday (June 3) and include the sports of basketball, baseball, golf, tennis, softball, and track & field.
