TYLER, TX - The Mississippi College men's and women's tennis teams open the American Southwest Conference Tournament on Friday at the Summers Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Tyler.  The women open with McMurry at 8:30 a.m., while the men start the tournament at 1:30 p.m. against Howard Payne.  Live stats will be available for all matches.

The women's tennis team qualified as the #2 seed from the East Division after finishing the season 9-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play.  The Lady Choctaws dropped their only league match of the year to #1 seed Texas-Tyler.

McMurry finished 9-7 overall, as well, and 4-2 in the ASC West Division to pick up the #3 seed.  McMurry and Mississippi College are the only conference teams to win an tournament championship besides Hardin-Simmons.

The men's team qualified as the #2 seed from the East Division after finishing the season 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference with the only loss coming to #1 Texas-Tyler, 6-3.  The men's team has won two ASC Tournament Championships in 2000 and 2001.

Howard Payne finished 7-9 overall and 4-2 in the West Division to pick up the #3 seed.  The Yellow Jackets are making only their second appearance in the tournament with the last coming in 2002.

ASC Winter/Spring All-Academic Teams
CLINTON, MS - Mississippi College had 43 student athletes recognized on the 2010-11 Winter/Spring All-Academic honor roll.  The teams were announced by the ASC office on Friday (June 3) and include the sports of basketball, baseball, golf, tennis, softball, and track & field.
