MEMPHIS, TN - The Mississippi College men's track and field team finished ninth at the Rhodes Invitaional last weekend. Seniors T.J. Pride and Joel Garrison led the Choctaws to the top ten finish out of 13 teams.

Shane Brogdon and Hunter Boykin led the distance portion of the meat in the 800m run. Brogdon finished second with a time of 1:58.23, while Boykin finished seventh with a time of 1:59.99. Both runners helped the 4x800m relay team with a third place finish.
"T.J. is jumping very well right now. He is having really good jumps at 17' in practice, but we have to transfer that to meets. The wind at this meet and the waiting time to jump were not very helpful in jumping well. The wind was gusting about 20-25 mph from different directions and none of the jumpers could get a feel for their steps. Plus, it took 3 hours to run the event off, so there was a lot of sitting and waiting.
"Garrison continues to jump well in the triple. He has always done well for us there, and just keeps doing what it takes to score points.
"Shane and Hunter did well for us too in the 800m. The heats were large and there was a lot of positioning in the race, and they both came out with good runs.
"Our sprint team needs to get better. We always score a lot of points in sprints in these meets, and it wasn't there this time. We will get better in that area in the next few weeks."
