2010 Football Schedule
CLINTON, MS - Mississippi College Head Coach Norman Joseph has released the Choctaws' 2010 football schedule featuring local matchups against Millsaps College and Belhaven University. The Choctaws are coming off a 9-3 season in which they won their first American Southwest Conference Championship since 1997 and reached the playoffs for the first time since 1991.
The Choctaws play five home games and five road games with the opener set for September 4, against Millsaps College in the annual "Backyard Brawl" at 7:00 p.m
The second game pits the Choctaws against their only new opponent in 2010 in cross-town rival Belhaven on September 11. MC will host the Blazers at 6:00 p.m. at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
The Choctaws will open conference play on the road against Hardin-Simmons on September 18 in Abilene, TX. MC beat Hardin-Simmons last season for the first time since 1997 with a 39-34 win over the Cowboys.
MC will host their first conference game on September 25 when they play Louisiana College at Robinson-Hale Stadium. The Choctaws will then have a bye week on October 2.
After the week off, the Choctaws will travel to Belton, TX to face Mary Hardin-Baylor on October 9. MC beat the Cru last season, 17-14, for the first time since 1998. It was the first time in MC football history that the Choctaws defeated Hardin-Simmons and Mary Hardin-Baylor in the same year.
On October 16, the Choctaws will host East Texas Baptist for the Homecoming Game. The Choctaws will then travel to Howard Payne on October 23 to face the only team on their schedule that defeated them last year.
The Choctaws will then host Sul Ross State on October 30 before hitting the road for their last road game of the season when they face Texas Lutheran in Seguin, TX on November 6. MC will finish the regular season with a home game against McMurry on November 13.
