Lady Choctaws Open ASC Tourney With Howard Payne

PINEVILLE, LA - The Mississippi College women's basketball team will open the American Southwest Conference Tournament on Friday against Howard Payne University at 5:00 p.m. at the H.O. West Fieldhouse on the campus of Louisiana College. Live video will be available for all seven conference tournament games.

The Lady Choctaws (19-6) enter the eight-team tournament as the #3 seed from the East Division, while the Lady Jackets (20-5) are the #2 seed from the West Division. These same two teams met in the first round of the playoffs last year with HPU getting a last-second layup to win the game. Howard Payne has won three consecutive ASC Tournaments and these two teams represented the ASC in the NCAA Tournament last season.

The winner of the game will move on to the semi-finals to face either Louisiana College or Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Choctaws will face Texas-Tyler at 1:00 p.m. with the men to play in the "Golden Dome" at 3:00 p.m. Donations will be accepted to support the fight against breast cancer and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the two games.
