Choctaws Face Cru in ASC Semis

BELTON, TX - The Mississippi College men's basketball team will play in the semi-finals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the Mayborn Campus Center. Free live video will be available for both semi-final contests.

The Choctaws advanced to the second round with an 89-78, come-from-behind win over Concordia Texas on Friday afternoon. Senior Donnie Haywood led the way with 27 points and 10 rebounds, including going 17-19 from the free throw line.

The Cru moved into the semi-finals with an 82-61 victory over Texas-Tyler. Sterling Phillips led the scoring effort with 23 points on 9-16 shooting from the floor.

The winner of the game will move to the Championship Game on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. against either Texas-Dallas or East Texas Baptist.

The Lady Choctaws will face Texas-Tyler at 1:00 p.m. with the men to play in the "Golden Dome" at 3:00 p.m. Donations will be accepted to support the fight against breast cancer and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the two games.
