CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College Choctaws (18-6) will face Concordia Texas (16-9) next Friday at 5:00 p.m. in their opening round game of the 2010 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX.
Mississippi College (18-6), which has won an ASC-record six league titles and is the only team to qualify for all 12 ASC tournaments, will serve as the East’s No. 2 seed. The Choctaws, who fell 85-72 in the title game last season, will battle West Division No. 3 seed Concordia University Texas (16-9) at 5 p.m. on Friday. The Tornados have made four straight tourneys and reached the title game the last time the event was in Belton, Texas.
The entire eight-team, single elimination event will be available for fans through free live video streaming with audio provided by College TV Ticket (collegetvticket.com). UMHB will have a tournament page on www.cruathletics.com and the conference will have a “Tournament Central” page on www.ASCsports.org where the links to video can also be accessed as well as those for live stats, box scores, game recaps, photos and updated brackets.
NOTES:
- Admission prices for each day will be $7 for adults and $3 for students. A tournament pass can be purchased for $15.
- Souvenir T-shirts will be available for $15 as well as tournament programs for $3.

- Texas-Dallas senior post Jordan Eppink is the only returning All-Tournament Team selection from the 2009 tournament.
- This is the ASC’s 12th conference basketball tournament.
- The hosting rights of the tourney rotate from West to East each year.
- Team from the East Division holds a 7-4 advantage on ASC titles won.
- The host school has won the last three ASC tournaments and six overall.
- Note about construction on UMHB campus, concerning traffic: Work has begun on a new sewer line on University Drive. The work will run from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday (no weekend work is anticipated). During evening hours, University Drive will be open to traffic. During the day, we have been asked to have all traffic avoid University Drive to minimize any potential delays caused by resetting equipment. There will be signs posted on Crusader Way and 9th Street advising that there will be “NO THROUGH TRAFFIC” during the work hours. However there may be one lane of traffic available. Thus, All visitors to Mayborn Campus Center are encouraged to use 9th Street and King Street to access the Mayborn parking lots on February 26 and 27 (Friday and Saturday). While the parking lot in front of the Mayborn Arena may be accessed from University Drive, UMHB encourages everyone to access these lots from King Street and Mabee Drive.
