CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College Lady Choctaws will face Howard Payne University next Friday at 5:00 p.m. in their opening round game of the 2010 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. 

The Lady Choctaws (19-6) are playing in their 11th ASC Championship Tournament, the most of any ASC East Division team. They are the #3 East Division seed and matched against the #2 West Division seed in Howard Payne. The Yellow Jackets are the three-time defending conference champions and have a 20-5 record. The Lady Choctaws beat the Yellow Jackets earlier this season by a 74-60 score in A. E. Wood Coliseum.

LC earned the host opportunity as ASC East Division Champions for the first time with a 17-2 record. The Tournament will be held inside H.O. West Fieldhouse beginning Friday and lasting through Sunday (Feb. 26-28).

The entire eight-team, single elimination event will be available for fans through free live video streaming with audio provided by College TV Ticket (collegetvticket.com). LC will have a tournament page on www.lcwildcats.net and the conference will have a “Tournament Central” page on www.ASCsports.org where the links to video can also be accessed as well as those for live stats, box scores, game recaps, photos and updated brackets.

- Returning All-Tournament Team selections from 2009 are Most Valuable Player Hope Hohertz and Elaine Hobbs from Howard Payne, Lindsey Newcombe from Hardin-Simmons and Jessica Kelly from Mary Hardin-Baylor.

- This is the ASC’s 12th conference basketball tournament.

- The hosting rights of the tourney rotate from East to West each year.

- No team from the East Division has ever won the ASC title.

Women's Game Notes - Men's Game Notes

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College basketball teams will wrap the "Make a Change in 14 Days" campaign with a "Play it Pink" doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against the University of Texas at Tyler.  The Lady Choctaws will face Texas-Tyler at 1:00 p.m. with the men to play in the "Golden Dome" at 3:00 p.m.  Donations will be accepted to support the fight against breast cancer and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the two games.
