RedHawk Invitational Results
CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Mississippi College traveled to Southeast Missouri State University on Friday to compete in the RedHawk Invitational.
The Choctaws were led by several strong performances. Deoante Rivers won the 300m Dash, and finished fourth in both the 55m Dash and Long Jump. Shane Brogdon won the Mile, while T.J. Pride took second in the Pole Vault.
"We had a pretty good day in the meet. Having to leave campus at 8:00am and ride the 6 hours to Cape Girardeau Missouri and then compete in the meet that afternoon was not very helpful for great performances, but I think we competed well as a group. T.J. got things started well for us with a good performance in the pole vault. He cleared 15' on his first attempt, and finished second in the standings. He moved up to his bigger pole to go for 16' but never could get his steps adjusted. I feel confident that he will break that barrier this Spring.
"Shane Brogdon also had a big day for us. He ran a had fought race and out kicked the runner from SEMO for his 4:27 victory in the mile. Deoante Rivers also came up big in the 300m Dash. It is not a race we normally run, so I made all the sprinters run the 55m Dash and the 300m Dash. In his heat, he ran basically by himself, but still had a strong enough performance to win the overall race. Reggie McMiller also did well for us. He finished second in the 55m Hurdles in 8.11. He keeps getting better and will soon be back in shape and improving in the hurdle events."
