JACKSON, MS - Four different Choctaw players reached double digit points as Mississippi College (10-0) knocked off Belhaven University (10-2) 89-79 Monday night in Belhaven's Rugg Arena.

Belhaven entered the game with only one loss on the season and wins over two nationally ranked NAIA opponents, Union University and Trevecca Nazarene. But the Blazers couldn't handle the Choctaws as MC shot 51% from the floor and led by as many as 13 points.

The Choctaws were again led by Donnie Haywood who poured in 22 points on 8-12 shooting, including 3-5 from three-point-range, to go along with eight rebounds and a couple steals. Luther Suggs came off the bench to add 15 points and seven rebounds. Andre Thomas and Chazz Hawkins added 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Belhaven was led by Nathaniel Roche' and Bobby Grier who each finished the game with 16 points. Krayleon Winston scored 13 points and Rob Wallace added 10.

The Choctaws carried a narrow 39-38 lead into halftime. Belhaven built a 47-43 lead with 17:33 remaining but a 15-4 run by MC over the next four minutes gave the Choctaws a 58-51 lead they would not surrender. The Blazers would get no closer than five points the rest of the game.

The Choctaws hit the road this week to face Concordia Texas Thursday night and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday. Game time is 7:30 Thursday night against Concordia and an audio broadcast will be provided on ChoctawVision.
