RICHARDSON, TX - The Mississippi College softball team picked up a doubleheader sweep over UT-Dallas on Friday night by scores of 10-2 and 10-1. Despite the wins, the Lady Choctaws (20-17, 13-9 ASC) were eliminated from contention for the ASC Tournament with two wins by Texas-Tyler over LeTourneau.
In the first game, the Comets got an early lead with an RBI double in the first inning, but the Lady Choctaws took control from there and never looked back.
MC struck back with four-spots in the second and third innings. Junior
Reagan Jackson drove in two runs with a triple in the third inning. Jackson finished the game 3-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Kasey Bomar,
Rachel Hurley, and
Morgan Gillenwater each collected two hits. Bomar also drove in two runs from the lead-off spot.
Freshman
Whitney Warner (14-5) picked up the win for MC, allowing one hit and one earned run over three innings.
In the second game, the Lady Choctaws scored five runs in the first two innings to make the result evident early on.
Hurley led the offensive output for the Lady Choctaws with a 3-3 day and three runs scored.
Jennifer Jones and
Lauren Coleman each had two hits for the MC offense. Coleman also drove in three runs for the Lady Choctaws.
Warner collected another win for, allowing two hits and one unearned run in three innings pitched.
The Lady Choctaws will finish the 2009 season with a doubleheader against the Comets beginning at 12:00 p.m.
