Herrin's Walk-Off Single Gives Choctaws 3-2 Win Over UMHB

CLINTON, MS - Chase Herrin's walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Mississippi College (27-14) a 3-2 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor (22-16) on Friday night at Frierson Field in the first game of the ASC First Round Series.
Herrin's heroics followed an outstanding pitching performance from junior Tyler Seaman. Seaman worked into the ninth inning allowing just one earned run on eight hits, while striking out seven. Seaman surrendered a single to Ryan Moreau to lead off the ninth before leaving the game. Moreau eventually scored to tie the score at 2-2 and give Seaman his second earned run of the game. Red Prewitt (2-2) entered in the ninth to earn the win by allowing just one hit.
The Choctaws answered in the bottom of the ninth when Herrin's single plated the winning run in Jacan Warren.
UMHB starter Jared Hopper (6-3) also turned in an impressive peformance allowing just three earned runs in 8 1/3 innings of work. Hopper struck out ten batters and allowed just four hits.
The two teams meet again tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. with MC needing one win to advance to the ASC Championship Tournament, and to host the event. UMHB needs two wins to advance.
