BELTON, TX - The Mississippi College Choctaws lost a hard-fought match in the first round of the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday, losing on penalty kicks to the University of the Ozarks.
The score was 3-3 at the end of regulation and remained knotted through two overtime periods before the game was decided on the penalty kicks with UMHB holding a 3-1 edge.
The Choctaws cruised through the first half and early parts of the second half with a 2-0 lead.
Nick Murry got MC on the board in the 41st minute with a goal on an assist from Julio Espanal, and
Dylan Boudreaux added another unassisted goal in the 48th minute.
Ozarks rebounded with three straight second half goals to go up 3-2 in the final minutes of the game. MC defender
Ben Cross tied the match with a goal in the 88th minute to send it to overtime.
The Choctaws finish their season with an overall record of 12-4-4.
