2009 ASC Women's Soccer Awards
CLINTON, MS - Senior
Carrie Kirk was named American Southwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year the ASC office announced on Thursday (Nov. 12) after a vote of the league’s 14 head coaches. Five other Lady Choctaws earned All-ASC honors.
Kirk, a former Madison Central standout, spearheaded a defense that only allowed 20 goals and recorded eight shutouts this season. Carrie finished her career as the all-time leader at MC in games played.
Senior
Kimberly Kaim earned Second Team All-ASC honors after leading the Choctaws with six goals, including two in the conference tournament loss to UT-Dallas. The Niceville, FL native leaves MC ranked in the top 10 in assists.
Sophomore
Lesly Melo also earned Second Team honors, scoring two goals and assisting on another in the season. The Clinton native started 15 games and played in 17 in 2009.
Sophomore
Hannah Langley was named to the All-ASC Third Team for the second straight season. The Madison native finished second on the team with four assists.
Senior
Christa Sutter and junior
Hollye Henderson earned Honorable Mention selections. Sutter, a senior from Lafayette, LA, scored one goal and assisted on two others while starting 17 games. Henderson, a junior from Clinton, led MC in points with 13 on five goals and three assists.
The Lady Choctaws finished the season 11-5-3 overall and earned the #3 seed in the ASC Tournament.
