2009 ASC Men's Soccer Awards
CLINTON, MS - Junior forward
Michael Cooper was named American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year it was announced Wednesday (Nov. 11) after a vote of the leagues' 14 head coaches. Five other Choctaws earned All-ASC honors, including senior
Tyler Wade joining Cooper on the First Team.
Cooper, a Vicksburg, MS native, led the conference with 20 goals, including notching five consecutive hat tricks earlier in the season. Cooper also led the ASC in points per game (2.26) and shots per game (4.58).
Wade, a Pearl, MS native, finished third in the conference and led the team with seven assists on the season. Tyler was the only Choctaw to start every game in the 2009 season.
Junior
Barry Prather earned a Third Team All-ASC selection as a forward. The Clinton native finished tied for fourth in the conference nine goals. Prather also recorded three assists on the season.
Juniors
Brandon Mitchell,
Nick Murry, and
Andrew Dailey all earned Honorable Mention selections.
The Choctaws finished 12-4-4 on the season and earned their fourth consecutive trip to the American Southwest Conference Tournament where they were eliminated from in the first round in penalty kicks by Ozarks.
