Women's Soccer Gets #3 Seed with 2-1 Win Over ETBU

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College women's soccer team captured the #3 seed in the American Southwest Tournament with a 2-1 win over East Texas Baptist University on Saturday afternoon at Arrow Field on the campus of Clinton High School.

The Lady Choctaws finished the regular season at 11-5-2 overall and 9-2-2 in the ASC while the Lady Tigers ended with a 10-6 record and 9-3 league mark.  It's the second consecutive year MC will enter the tournament as the #3 seed.

On senior day, Kimberly Kaim scored the first goal of the match in her final regular season tilt at MC.  Junior Samantha Greco assisted on the tally.  The two teams would remain at 1-0 heading into the halftime break.

Junior Hollye Henderson would score the eventual game-winner in the 64th minute on an assist from another senior in Christa Sutter.  Defender Carrie Kirk and midfielder Sarah Birmingham would also play their final home games as Lady Choctaws.

East Texas Baptist would cut the lead in half in the 65th minute when Rebecca Davis on an assist from Nikole Cocker.

Kirk, sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Beatty and the rest of the MC defense would make the lead stand up for the fourth consecutive win to end the regular season.

The Lady Choctaws will open the ASC Tournament on Friday, November 6th at 2:00 p.m. against Texas-Dallas (7-7-4) at Hardin-Simmons.
