MC Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive with 3-1 Win Over UMHB

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College volleyball team kept alive their aspirations of qualifying for the American Southwest Conference Tournament with a 3-1 win over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday night at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

The Lady Choctaws (11-12, 5-10 ASC) won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 11-25, and 25-15 over the Lady Cru (7-24, 4-11 ASC).

The two teams are battling for the final spot in the ASC Tournament at the end of the season that takes the top three teams from each division.

The Lady Choctaws were led by sophomore Jessica Torick, who recorded 14 kills and only five errors in 38 attacks.  Junior Katie Rowland also picked up double-digits in kills with 10.

Sophomore Allie Mullins collected 35 assists in the match, including 13 in game two.  Mullins also was one of four Lady Choctaws with double-digits in digs with 13.  Freshman Katie Askew (15), junior Megan Deen (14), and sophomore Courtney Creamer (10) also had double-digit digs.

The Lady Cru were led by Christina Miller with 11 kills on 28 attacks.  Kayla Marzean led UMHB with 28 assists.  Erin Maenius (21) and Kaydie Cochran (18) led the team in digs.

The Lady Choctaws will remain home to face #11 University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
